Company Principal Neil Dufty recently presented on the topic of ‘Using Social Media to Build Community Disaster Resilience’ to a virtual workshop run by the University of South Florida. The workshop featured speakers from around the world presenting research about using technology for disaster resilience. Neil’s presentation (click here) showed how social media can build community disaster resilience through methods such as psychological support, crowdsourcing, diffusion of ideas, communities of practice, transformational learning and forming social capital. The presentation reprised and updated Neil’s popular paper on the same topic published in 2012 (click here).
